Here are a pair of cufflinks made from old Lion Coffee advertising pinbacks. The Lion Coffee brand was started in 1864, and was manufactured by the Woolson Spice Co. of Toledo, Ohio. Coffee competition in the old days was cutthroat; legend has it that at least one salesman's (allegedly successful) pitch to an Indian tribe claimed the drinkers would receive the strength of a lion if they drank Lion Coffee. Works for us—at least where these cufflinks are concerned! The pins have been set in sterling silver bezels soldered to fixed, pad-style posts.
