Here are two venerable American brands. On the left, Gulden's mustard, invented 150 years ago by Charles Gulden in New York. Gulden's was the first commerically available “prepared” mustard, meaning the mustard power and spices were already blended and mixed with water, ready to use. On the right is a product of perhaps the best-loved condiment vendor in the U.S.—Heinz. Though the company is most famous for its ketchup, it still sells vinegar for pickling and other household uses, something it has done since 1876. The two miniature charms are mounted with sterling silver “caps” and cradles, to which are soldered rotating, T-style cufflink posts.
