Baseball fans—especially Chicago Southsiders—will love these treasures dating to the playing days of Ty Cobb. This pair of cufflinks is made from Sweet Caporal cigarette baseball pins, given away with each pack from 1910-1912, and now avidly sought by collectors. The White Sox players depicted are Patsy Dougherty, who played left field from 1907 to 1911. He played on two World Series winners, including the 1906 White Sox team that beat the famous Tinker-Evers-Chance Cubs. Dougherty led the league in runs and at-bats twice, stolen bases and singles once. His career batting average was .284, though he hit an amazing .342 in his debut season with the Red Sox in 1902. Matty McIntyre spent most of his 10-year career with Detroit (playing on two World Series teams) before being acquired by the Chicago in 1911. Though in his second-to-last season, he hit .323 for the White Sox that year, a career-best, slugging .401 while appearing in 146 games, mostly in right field. We have mounted the pins in a copper and sterling silver bezel with a silver T-post.
